Nea ATTENDANCE POLICY
"Ninety percent of success is just showing up."
The Nea Community Learning Center believes regular school attendance relates directly to success in academic work, benefits learners socially, provides opportunities for important communication between facilitators and learners, and establishes regular habits of dependability important to the future of the learner.
Class attendance is a joint responsibility shared by the learner, parent or guardian, facilitator, and administrative team.
Tardy Definition: A learner is tardy when he or she is not in class and seated for any or all of class(es)—8:00 am (LV) or 8:20 am (UV)—or in the classroom and seated at the beginning of each class period.
Absent Definition: A learner is absent when he or she is not present in one or any classes.
Tardies and absences can be excused by any of the following methods:
- A hand written note with reason by parent, guardian or administration. Office Manager will call and verify tardy or absence with parent or guardian.
- A phone call to our Office Manager stating the learner’s name and reason for the tardy or absence. Office Manager will verify and handwrite a note for recording attendance.
- A voicemail from parent, guardian or administration with reason for the tardy or absence. Office Manager will call and verify tardy or absence with parent or guardian and handwrite a note for recording attendance.
- An email regarding the tardy or absence with parent, guardian or administration name and date. Office Manager will print and save emails regarding tardies and absences.
Absences or tardies that are not cleared after 5 school days CANNOT be excused - no exceptions.
