"Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself."

—John Dewey

The Alameda Community Learning Center (ACLC) is a tuition-free, public charter school providing a creative and rigorous college-prep program to middle and high school learners, grades 6-12.

Strong Community — ACLC is a small, dynamic and community-oriented learning environment of about 350 learners (students) and 20 facilitators (teachers) and staff with a learner-to-faculty ratio of less than 18:1, a remarkable achievement for a public school.

High Standards — ACLC was founded on the ideal of seriously raising the bar in education. From the beginning, we've been dedicated to developing important skills in our learners, skills that really make a difference in an ever-changing and globalized world.

Important Skills — These skills include critical thinking, creative problem-solving, strong leadership, self-motivation, active participation, investigative interest, technological savvy, personal responsibility, flexibility, open-mindedness, and the list goes on...
