What is the ACLC Internship Program?

Completing the Internship Program is a graduation requirement for all ACLC learners. The program is designed to connect learners to the working world and expose them to real career opportunities.

Learner Reflections

What to Expect During an Internship

Learners are expected to fully engage in their internship experience through time commitment, reflection, communication, and documentation.

Commitment

Complete a minimum of 20 internship hours.

Reflection

Maintain an ongoing weekly journal of the experience.

Feedback

Receive positive feedback from the internship supervisor.

Documentation

Compile and submit all required paperwork.

Closing Report

Learners complete a closing report of at least 500 words addressing:

Specific skills used
Daily duties
A general synopsis of what was learned
One obstacle encountered
A comparison between initial expectations and the actual experience

How To Get A Work Permit

Follow these steps to access work permits and explore real-world opportunities during your time at ACLC.

Before you begin:

You must have a Social Security number to work.
You must first be offered a job before obtaining a work permit.

1 Obtain a job offer +

Download this work permit form and print it out. Fill in the "Minor's information".

2 Complete Required Signatures +

Have a parent/guardian and your employer complete and sign the required sections of the form.

3 Submit to School +

Turn in your completed work permit form to the school office for processing. If all requirements are met, the school counselor will issue an Official Work Permit (CDE Form B1-4)

4 Receive Approved Permit +

Once approved, you may begin working in accordance with state guidelines.
