Internship Program

What is the ACLC Internship Program?

Completing the Internship Program is a graduation requirement for all ACLC learners. The purpose of the Internship Program is to expose learners to the working world and career opportunities. During the course of the program, learners will:

  • Research their personal interests and skills
  • Build a resume highlighting those skills and interests
  • Pursue and secure an internship of their choice
  • Report findings and observations during/after the internship

Although it may be easier for older learners to obtain the internship of their choice, learners will have the latitude to meet the requirement anytime between their junior and senior years, summers included.

*The Internship must be approved by the School Counselor prior to starting.  Please remember to pick up an ACLC Internship Packet from the School Counselor prior to starting!

What are the requirements?

  1. 20-hour internship duration (minimum)
  2. Ongoing weekly journal of learner’s experience
  3. Positive feedback from internship provider (supervisor)
  4. Appropriate paperwork compiled and filed
  5. Learner's Closing Report. The closing report, in no less than 500 words, will address:

    • Specific skills used
    • Daily duties
    • A general synopsis of what was learned in the internship
    • One example of an obstacle during the internship
    • A comparison between initial expectations and what the experience was really like
