ACLC at a Glance

A Different Kind of High School Experience

ACLC is a small, learner-centered high school serving grades 9–12, where learners take ownership of their education in a collaborative and inclusive community. Through project-based learning, learners engage deeply in their coursework while developing the skills to think critically, work collaboratively, and manage their own learning.

At ACLC, every learner is known and supported—we prioritize that each learner has at least one adult who knows them well and helps them feel safe, connected, and challenged. Class sizes are small, ranging from 25 to 30 in core classes. Our teachers - known as facilitators— guide, support, and challenge learners to think deeply, ask questions, and take ownership of their learning.

Beyond the classroom, learners have dedicated independent time (project periods)—that allow learners to manage their time, work on projects, and access opportunities like dual enrollment.

How We Measure Learning

ACLC uses a mastery-based grading system designed to reflect what learners understand and can do. Proficiency scores (1-4) replace letter grades and percentage scores.

Rather than focusing only on points or completion, our system emphasizes demonstrated learning, growth, and readiness for the next level.
